Consolidation of polyurethane (PUR) foams
PUR encompasses a very large family of polymers which are widely used today for such applications as building insulation, filling for mattresses, flexible fibres and surface coatings.
Their flexibility and diverse chemistries allow the synthesis of products that exhibit different physical and mechanical properties, from hard plastics to soft elastomers. This variety is due to the many types of isocyanates and polyols available, which are the fundamental building blocks used to synthesise these polymers. Research on consolidation processes using aminoalkylalkoxysilane, drying oil, acrylic resins were investigated for their effect on deteriorated polyurethane foam.
